During the summer seasons large number of tourists enter these hills to visit ooty and government has now made compulsory for the tourists to get an e pass to enter these areas. This step is taken to collect the data on number of vehicles entering the hill stations, the number of people in the vehicles and the number of days tourists plan to stay in the hill stations.

Ooty and Kodaikanal needs more infrastructure that is why for get records of tourists entering during summer season this e pass is made compulsory so that proper system is made by Tamilnadu state government. Now all the tourists required to have an e-pass and for that they to register themselves on the official portal.
People who are planning to travel to Kodaikanal or Ooty between 6 May and 30 June requires e-pass.

E-pass made mandatory to Ooty (Nilgiris) and Kodaikanal for all travelers and tourists from May 7. People who want to visit these tourist spots needs to visit the Official portal for the online registration. The epass.tnega.org is the official website and here you have to register yourself online to get e pass.

Tourists who want to apply online for ooty e pass, will have to first visit the official website i.e epass.tnega.org.
Here on the homepage, you have to select from which place your are coming whether from outside India or from within India.
Once you choose then you will be redirected to a new page, and here you have to enter your mobile number and then click on to get OTP.
Once you receive your OTP then click on to proceed and enter your details like,
- Name
- Number of people
- Address
- ID proof
- Vehicle Number
- Fuel type
- Date of entry and exit
- Purpose of visit
- Details for how many days visit.
After the successful submission of your details you will receive the e-pass you receive with a QR code that will be checked at entry points in Kodaikanal and Ooty.
