WB CM Mamta Banerjee has announced that their government will distribute computer tablets to the higher secondary students who are going to appear in the examination next year.
This initiative is taken by the government to provide equal opportunities to the students who are not able to attend online classes or activities due to their financial conditions.
WB government to give tablet devices initiative will give the opportunity to all students to attend online classes.
All Secondary Schools will be given free computers by which they can attend online classes.
CM Mamta Banerjee said that “As per the government collected data there are around 14,000 government and government-aided schools and 636 madrasas.
And approximately 9.5 lakh students will give examination for the higher secondary examination 2021. As we all know due to COVID-19 schools are shut down and there are no classes running at school.
And most of these students, who don’t have any facility to attend the class as they do not have a smartphone or a computer, are missing out.
So the WB government has decided to give these students tabs. Students can use these tabs during their higher studies also.”

Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for the free tablet scheme in West Bengal is very simple, we have shared the details below:
- Students must be studying in the 12th class.
- They must be residents of West Bengal.
- Students must be studying in the Government schools or government-aided schools or in Madrsas.
- Applicant’s family income proof will be required.
There is a total of 14,000 government schools or government-aided schools and 636 madarsas, it is estimated that around 9.5 lakh students will get these tabs under the wb free tablet scheme 2021.
These tabs can be used by the students in their higher studies.
